WOW, what a difference 2 years has made! Rece was like a totally different kid tonight. As soon as we got those pins, he was out trading pins with members from others teams. Out of 49 (I think there's 49 teams...) he got 33 pins already! In Pittsburgh, Tony and I did most of the asking....not tonight. Our little boy is coming out of his shell!
Two words to describe tonight.....ORGANIZED CHAOS! NKF of WI did an amazing job getting nearly 700 team members through tonight to register and pick up shirts/uniforms. And nearly 1400 volunteers helped move things along with all other teams as well. Kudos to all that made tonight go so smoothly....
Looking forward to tomorrow. The 5K run/walk begins at 9 AM at the Capitol square. We will be walking to the Alliant Energy Center. Rece will begin his 1K run at about 10:30 AM towards the end of the 5K portion. I will be at volleyball practice at noon and then we'll be chillin' at Aunt Monica's for the afternoon. We'll have to regroup for the Team Tailgate at 5 PM and lining up for the Opening Ceremony at 6. If you are interested, the Opening Ceremony is open to the public and is free of charge. This is an amazing experience I encourage all to attend. The ceremony starts at 7 PM but if you plan on coming, plan to be there early so you can get a seat with the rest of Team Wisconsin.
I need to get to bed since we'll be leaving here at 6:45 AM. Thanks for checking in and check back tomorrow to see how Rece does in the 1K. Team Wisconsin members took gold, silver, and bronze in the ballroom dance competition this evening (each in a different type of dance). Way to go!!!
Love to all,
The Sweeres
